FNF UpSide Tricky puts you in a fast musical confrontation with the dangerous and mysterious clown Tricky. The mod asks you to read incoming notes, follow changing rhythms, and keep your timing steady while the battle grows harder. Tricky does not give you much room to recover, so every missed note can affect the rest of the song. Start playing when you are ready to face a strange opponent, sharp patterns, and a soundtrack built for a demanding Friday Night Funkin experience.

Music Battle With Tricky

FNF UpSide Tricky brings Tricky into the FNF universe as a powerful clown opponent with an aggressive stage presence and difficult musical patterns. Tricky is more than an ordinary character waiting for a simple rhythm duel. His songs move through quick note sequences, sudden changes, and sections that ask for careful attention rather than random key presses. This is a compact mod, but the battles can feel tense because the chart leaves little space for careless play. Try to watch the arrows before they reach the target line, then match each input with a steady hand. The music sets the mood, while the chart decides how much pressure you feel.

Developers

The original Friday Night Funkin team includes these contributors. They are credited with the base game’s rhythm system, visual direction, and music style.

  • Programming — ninjamuffin99: Built the playable rhythm structure, input response, menus, and the core systems that display each note chart.
  • Art — PhantomArcade 3K and Evilsk8r: Created the characters, stages, expressions, and visual scenes that give Friday Night Funkin its bold look.
  • Music — Kawai Sprite: Wrote the beats, melodies, and short musical phrases that drive each battle.

Mod Team

FNF UpSide Tricky was developed by a separate mod team that created the new interface, charts, remixes, artwork, animation, effects, and additional music. Each contributor handled a different part of the mod.

Brandxn worked on the interface and helped shape the remixed tracks and note charts players follow during matches. Banbuds directed the mod and created the artwork and animation for Tricky, the scenes, and the action around each song. Rozebud handled the music and editing, arranging the audio to fit the battles and their shifting pace. Cval contributed note charts and offsets, which affect how accurately the notes line up with the music.

Tom Fulp added special effects to give selected moments more movement and visual impact during the confrontation. YingYang48 provided music connected with Honkers, adding another musical voice to the mod. The release also credits the original mod, linking this version to the earlier creative work behind Tricky.

Two Game Modes

FNF UpSide Tricky offers two gameplay modes, and each one serves a different purpose. Story mode gives the mod a clear route, while free play lets you choose a song without following the full sequence. Must you win every attempt to enjoy the chart? No. Practice can be useful here, especially when a later section changes speed or places several notes close together.

In story mode, you play through a week containing two challenging songs. Your task is to complete both tracks and defeat Tricky the Clown in a direct musical battle. The two songs do not rely on exactly the same rhythm, so a pattern that feels manageable in one track may require a different approach in the next. Keep your eyes on the incoming arrows, listen for repeated beats, and avoid pressing keys early just because the screen becomes busy. Tricky places pressure on your timing, but patient attempts can reveal where each difficult section begins. This is a short story route with a clear goal: finish the songs and hold your own against Tricky.

Free play mode lets you select your preferred songs and repeat them without returning to the story sequence. You could use free play to study a chart, test your accuracy, or replay a track that you enjoy. It also gives you a practical place to prepare before trying a harder story attempt. Start with the song that causes the most trouble, then repeat its difficult passages until the arrow spacing feels familiar. Free play does not remove the challenge, but it gives you control over the order and pace of your practice.

How To Play

FNF UpSide Tricky uses the arrow keys, though some charts demand quick reactions. Tap the matching key when each note reaches the target arrow. Watch the pattern instead of holding one key without checking the chart. When several notes arrive together, position your fingers before they reach the line. Accurate timing matters more than frantic movement, so listen to the beat and adjust after each mistake.
